Why Your Business Gets Enquiries but Not Enough Sales
Low conversion can have several causes. Locate the point where buyers stop progressing before choosing a fix.
A busy inbox can feel reassuring until the month ends and sales have not followed. It is tempting to blame lead quality immediately. Sometimes that is correct. Sometimes a suitable customer never received a clear answer or a workable next step.
To understand why your business gets enquiries but not sales, separate the stages of the problem. A campaign mismatch needs a different response from a quotation delay or an unconvincing offer.
Start with the promise that brought the enquiry
Compare the advertisement or listing with the actual product, price conditions, location and availability. A campaign can attract the wrong audience if the promise is broad or the exclusions are hidden. Ask whether an ordinary reader would understand what is being offered.
For WhatsApp campaigns, our lead-quality guide covers the connection between the initial promise and the ensuing conversation.
Follow the evidence through the sale
- Fit: does the business serve this requirement?
- Contact: did a useful conversation actually happen?
- Understanding: are the necessary details known?
- Offer: did the buyer receive a clear, relevant proposal?
- Decision: are unresolved questions and the next step recorded?
Review a defined sample of all enquiries, including lost and unanswered ones. Looking only at good conversations hides capture and ownership problems.
Distinguish an objection from a missing answer
Imagine a fictional interior-design enquiry. The customer says the proposal is expensive. They may be rejecting the budget, comparing a smaller scope or asking what the amount includes. A salesperson who records only “price issue” cannot tell which response would help.
Record the concern in context and confirm what the buyer needs to decide. Do not use automation to repeatedly challenge an explicit refusal.
Check the next-step discipline
A sent quotation does not establish that the buyer received, understood or accepted it. Agree on a reasonable review point and make the responsible person visible. If the customer requests a change, the old follow-up should not continue as though nothing happened.
Use our quotation follow-up examples to replace vague reminders with useful questions and information.
Choose a fix you can measure
If enquiries are unassigned, improve ownership. If requirements are incomplete, improve qualification. If suitable buyers consistently reject the offer, investigate the offer itself. A CRM cannot make an unsuitable price or product fit every customer.
Track stage progression and reasons over a comparable period. Allow for sales-cycle length and campaign changes before concluding that one intervention caused an improvement.
Use SHVYA to organise the response
SHVYA can be evaluated for connecting customer context, AI Playbooks and follow-up work. Its feature guide and plans describe the available scope; the specific process still needs configuration.
Bring an enquiry-to-sale problem to a SHVYA discussion. A redacted sample of won, lost and stalled enquiries is more useful than a target conversion rate alone.
